About Parkway Futsal
Futsal is a fast-paced form of indoor soccer usually played on a basketball court or similar surface. Teams of five play with modified rules using a smaller, heavier futsal ball. You can learn more about futsal by visiting usyouthfutsal.com or futsalma.com.
Parkway Futsal is an independent, non-profit organization. Parkway Futsal teams have competed in the Massachusetts Futsal Association since 2016. Past sponsors include GoPlay Sports, City Councilor Matt O’Malley, State Rep. Ed Coppinger, and MacLean Springer Group.
In 2020, Parkway Futsal offered a COVID-era alternative to indoor futsal and the outdoor recreational house league was born. We played 5v5 games on turf and famously got snowed out for many games. The outdoor league ended in 2023.
Parkway Futsal would like to thank State Rep. Ed Coppinger for making the inaugural seasons possible.
FAQ
What ages?
We have programs for players (male and female) in grades 3 through 8. We are limited by practice space availability and number of coaches. We group players on teams or clinics by age so that their ages don't span too large of a time period.
Where does this league happen?
House and travel leagues will utilize practice space at the Park School, Roxbury Latin, and/or Bosse Sports. Travel teams will play games on the weekend in the 495 bounded area, but mostly at Park School, Fessenden School, and Rashi School.
Do you have to be a Parkway player/resident?
No, there is no residential requirement. Most players who make a travel team come from Parkway soccer. The house league program is an option for any players who do not make a travel team. Parkway Futsal is an independent entity from Parkway Soccer
What kind of gear do we need?
Futsal is played on a basketball court surface. Players must wear flat bottomed sneakers. No cleats or turf shoes. Regular sneakers are fine--there's no requirement to buy new shoes. Players must wear shin guards. Coaches will provide futsal balls and goals.
What is the cost?
The house league is $130 per player, and parents who coach pay half. The travel league is $330. Scholarships are available if the fees represent a financial hardship. Email parkwayfutsal@gmail.com if you need support. All inquiries will be kept confidential.
Can my son/daughter play on the same team as their friend?
Perhaps! There will likely be just one travel team per grade. House league players will scrimmage each other--so if the friend is in the same grade, they'll see them each week. Travel and house league players practice at different times/courts.
Can I sponsor?
Yes we'd love that! Email parkwayfutsal@gmail.com to discuss options.
What days do you practice?
Practice schedules are not yet set, but our gym rentals are on Monday, Wednesday and Friday so your player's practice will most likely occur on one of those days.
